Six Rings Sangha in State College, PA has invited Nanshin to give a Dharma talk on February 3, 2022. Starting at 7:30 eastern standard time there will be a period of zazen, and then the talk, entitled “Living by Vow in a Time of Uncertainty”. The talk will be followed by Q & A, and closing at 9:00 with the Four Vows.
way seeking mind talks
Beginning on Wednesday, January 26th, we will start "Way Seeking Mind" talks. Sangha members will talk for about 15 minutes, sharing stories about what influences brought them to study and practice Zen, and describe the factors that foster the continuance of practice. The talks are intended to be informal and personal. A Q&A follows each talk. The talks will alternate between Mondays and Wednesdays over several months.
On the first Wednesday of the month beginning in February, Nanshin will offer a brief Dharma talk (20 minutes) which will be followed by Q & A. The first of these talks is listed above.
We will continue to offer the short evening service on the 3rd Wednesday of each month and the Earth Touchings as the schedule allows.
Tomei plans to offer short Monday evening Dharma talks/messages, followed by Q & A, beginning in mid-February. Please watch for these announcements.
rohatsu december 4-9,2022
We invite you to join us during this time in which we recognize the Buddha Shakyamuni's awakening. Rohatsu can be translated as "December 8th." It is common in Zen centers across the United States to sit in meditation to honor the profound teaching of the Buddha. We will sit in meditation each evening from 7-8pm central time. The schedule is as follows: 10 minute talk, 20 minutes of seated meditation, followed by 10 minutes of walking meditation, followed by 20 minutes of seated meditation.
